We have been blessed with an abundance of commitment to Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) so we are currently only enrolling families on our Waiting List.

what is catechesis of the good shepherd (CGS)?
This is a very special and unique hands-on religious education program that supports the child’s developing relationship with God. We provide a space just for the children and hand-make materials for them to work with, to help them discover the love God has for them. Check out this CGS Info Sheet for some more detailed information. You can also check out the CGS USA Website here. There are 5 classes we are offering this year and all of them are full. The three age-groups of those classes that are:
Toddler (ages 14 months-3 years old, with parents staying in the class) on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30pm
Level 1 (ages 3-6) on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30pm OR Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30pm
Level 2 (ages 6-9, including First Holy Eucharist preparation) on on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30pm OR Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30pm
We are each called to give of our time, talent and treasure. Can you help support the children of our parish?
Time
Our CGS programs need volunteers to help guide and support our children for the 2026-2027 school year. We have opportunities on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30pm and on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30pm. For information on becoming a regular CGS Catechist or Assistant, please contact Kira Ellen.
TALENT
Our CGS Program has hand-materials for the children to use and work with. In a world where everything is at our fingertips and Amazon delivery is just one click away, hand-made materials make this religious education experience special for these children. We are looking for people who can use their gifts of construction, carpentry, sewing, painting, drawing and writing. Please contact cgskira@gmail.com to share how you can use your talent to support our children.
TREASURE
We are always looking for donors to support our program financially. You can make a donation directly to Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) through the St. John’s website portal. Please make sure to click “Ministries and Projects” and then the sub-fund of “CGS.” If you are looking gift a specific item to our atrium, please contact Kira Ellen to find out our most urgent item needs.
